We support and practice Ecotourism with the intent to conserve the balance of this region for future generations, without denying the joy of the unexpected. Preparation allows us to fashion journeys in a harmonious and purposeful manner.
Ecotourism Principles:
We define ecotourism as ‘responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people’. We strive to implement and participate in ecotourism activities and abide by the following principles:
- Minimize impact
- Build environmental and cultural awareness and respect
- Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
- Provide direct financial benefits for conservation
- Provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people
- Raise sensitivity to the host countries' political, environmental, and social climate
- Support international human rights and labour agreements
Sustainable Tourism – Our goal is to ensure that development meets the needs of the present tourists and locals while protecting future opportunities.
Responsible Tourism calls travellers to a higher standard - Responsible travel is simply treating others with the same respect you would ask for in your own community - travellers are simply entering a ‘place’ that is someone else's home.
Conscientious Tourism is travelling with one's conscience and connecting with others in a particular place. Travel encourages a deeper understanding of people and places and this concept recognizes the fact that travellers engage in various activities in the same day. For example, the adventure traveller may also be a craft buyer and a birder. Being aware of one's social and environmental footprint is a fundamental value of the conscientious traveller.
