of 1845 meters above sea level. Lubango is set in a lush tropical valley

one found in Rio de Janeiro. Lubango is a city with rich Portuguese heritage
and a mix of Africa. Dinner and overnight.

formations and lakes. Today will be the start of our desert adventure with a

and not permitted in many countries and makes this journey very exciting.
This drive can only be done at spring tide as the coast is bordered by high
dunes which fall precipitously into the sea. Join us in our excitement as we
squeeze the vehicles between the ocean and the enormous sand dunes. (Not to
worry our guides are specially trained on all terrain driving and are
experts in what they do) We will set up camp more or less in the middle of
the route.
Behind the dunes are a number of green oases and near the south end of Baia
dos Tigres are vast lagoons with fish, birds such as Pelicans, Flamingos and
wildlife such as Oryx. In the two days we will pass two shipwrecks, fossil
plants called the Welwitschia Mirabilis (the only other place you will find
them is in the north western part of Namibia it can be 1000 years old) We
will arrive at Foz do Cunene in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight -
tonight your guides will prepare fresh fish from the ocean over the open
fire.

to more rocky landscapes. We will drive through the Parque National du Iona

travel through. We will come across many Himba villages. The Himba people
still dress and live according to their ancient traditions. The tribes are
nomadic and in this part of the world not use to foreign faces. We will
visit some of their villages and you will be able to observe there way of
