The Xugana Lagoon is part of Xugana private concession, is widely accepted as
being the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta.
Xugana Island Lodge, situated on a wooded island abutting the lagoon, takes
full advantage of this magnificent site, with an open Boma and al fresco
dining area facing out over the expanse of pristine water that makes up the
permanent Delta.
OKAVANGO DELTA - Probably the best known area of Botswana is the
Okavango Delta. This area is one of the world's largest inland water systems,
a unique oasis of life in the centre of the Kalahari Desert. It stretches over
15,000km² and supports a staggering variety of animal, plant and bird life.
The water is once thought to have reached the sea, but this is no longer the
case. After a series of tectonic uplifts and earthquakes running along
geological fault lines, the land at the edge of the Delta now lies lower than
that of the surrounding area.

ITINERARY:
Day 1 & Day 2:
Arrival -
Maun or Kasane, Botswana
On arrival at the Maun or Kasane you will be met by a company
representative and escorted to your private air charter for your short flight
to
Xugana Island Lodge.
Spend 2 nights at Xugana Island Lodge, situated in the Xugana Lagoon, part of
Xugana private concession, which is widely accepted as being the most
spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta, on a fully
inclusive basis.
Accommodation: Xugana Island Lodge
Xugana Island Lodge comprises of 8 large raised reed and thatch chalets
situated on the shaded fringe of the Island, each with a lagoon view through
the lagoon-side vegetation. The recently refurbished chalets have twin beds,
en-suite facilities, with walk in showers, overhead fans and a private deck.
Other facilities include an open Boma and al fresco dining area facing out
over the expanse of pristine water that makes up the permanent Delta. The
lounge, bar and dining areas are set back under the fig and Leadwood tree
canopy in open sided thatched areas. The swimming pool, located amongst the
mature gardens in the centre of the island is a perfect place to relax.
Enjoy 2 full days of morning and afternoon game activities, which include:
Exploring the Okavango by canoe (mokoro) and motorboat;
Fishing opportunities;
Guided nature walks on the various islands offer an opportunity to track some
of the larger species that inhabit this water wilderness.
Day 3:
Departure
Terminating in Maun: After breakfast, you will be transferred by motorboat to
Xugana Island Lodge's airstrip for your charter flight to Maun, for your
onward arrangements.
Terminating in Kasane: After breakfast, you will be transferred by motorboat
to Xugana Island Lodge's airstrip for your charter flight to Kasane Airport.
