ITINERARY:
Day 1:
Ghanzi - Bushman Experience
The safari begins in Maun, where we meet by 08h00 and travel to a game
farm on the western side of the Central Kalahari Game reserve. We settle into
camp and have a safari briefing. In the afternoon we will be participating in
a nature walk led by local Bushmen trackers. They will share their intricate
bush knowledge and give us an insight into their unique and intriguing
culture. This evening we will be treated to a traditional Bushman dance around
the campfire. Camping (Meals: L, D)
Day 2 & Day 3 & Day 4 & Day 5:
Central Kalahari Game Reserve:
We enter the pristine wilderness of
the largest game reserve in Botswana. We spend 4 nights exploring the
undeveloped wilderness of the northern region of the Kalahari, moving from
camp to camp. We will visit Pipers Pan, Tau Pan and Deception Valley in our
exploration of the Kalahari. Savour the vast open spaces, clear night skies
and uninterrupted beauty of the Kalahari on game drives and at camp. This is
adventure camping in its purest form, water and communications are limited and
we travel as a self-sufficient group.
Camping (Meals: B, L, D)
Day 6:
Maun
After our final morning game drive, we break camp and
return to Maun, where one night will be enjoyed in the comfort of a lodge.
Dinner is at your own expense in a local restaurant.
Accommodation at a lodge in Maun (Meals: B, L)
Day 7:
Okavango Delta - Guma Lagoon
The day will start early from your lodge, Bush
Ways will arrange collection, and road transfer to the western side of the
Okavango Delta, a special corner of paradise. We camp on the edge of the
Okavango Delta, serenaded by the sound of hippos and bell frogs breaking the
night silence.
Camping with permanent ablution facilities. (Meals: B, L, D)
Day 8 & Day 9:
Okavango Delta - Mokoro excursion
After transferring our
equipment to motorboats, we cruise along the narrow papyrus-lined channels of
the Delta. Enjoy the exquisite birdlife of the region as well as the stunning
landscape of this area. Deeper in the Delta we meet our mokoro's (traditional
dugout canoes) and local polers and enjoy a tranquil ride to an island. We
will spend 2 days camping on the island, exploring the area on foot and by
mokoro.
Wild camping with bush ablutions (Meals: B, L, D)
Day 10:
Maun
Inspired by the beauty of the Okavango, we retrace our
route to Maun. You have the option of taking a one-hour scenic game flight (own
cost) across the Delta to return to Maun, providing another perspective of this
unique water system.
Camping at a private camp outside Maun with
permanent ablution facilities (Meals: B, L, D)
Day 11& Day 12 & Day 13:
Moremi Game Reserve
The big game aspect of our tour
commences today as we enter Moremi Game Reserve, one of the best wilderness
areas of Botswana. The park covers swamp areas as well as dry land. The next
three nights are spent in this park searching for the wide variety of animals
and birds in the reserve, while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this
region. Game drives as the sun rises, and in the late afternoon as the sun
sets, are the norm.
Camping in private designated areas with bush ablutions (Meals: B, L, D)
Day 14 & Day 15:
Chobe National Park - Savute - Chobe River
Chobe National Park, with its diverse
and striking landscapes, is our next destination. As we continue our search
for wildlife, we will traverse the drier region of Savuti where bull elephants
dot the plains. We then head northwards to the Chobe River, where our game
drives will meander along the banks of the river, followed by the call of the
majestic African fish eagle.
Camping in private designated areas with
bush ablutions (Meals: B, L, D)
Day 16 & Day 17:
Victoria Falls - Zimbabwe
We cross the border to Zimbabwe.
We overnight at a comfortable lodge in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This
afternoon there is time to visit the thunderous Victoria Falls and shop for
curios. Dinner is at your own expense at the lodge.
