ITINERARY:
Day 1
Tuesday
Windhoek - Otavi Mountains
We depart Windhoek in a northerly direction and travel to the Otavi
Mountain range, where our historical guest farm is situated. The rest of the
day is spent at leisure. Relax along the pool in the large garden or take a
scenic walk along one of the walking paths. At a frequented waterhole next
to the guest farm you have the opportunity to observe some of the animals
inhabiting the area.
Day 2
Wednesday
Caprivi - Mahangu Game Park
After breakfast we travel north towards Namibia’s lush Caprivi region. En
route we stop at Hoba Meteorite, the world’s largest known meteorite that
came crashing down in Namibia some 80’000 years ago. We travel through the
Kavango area, known for its rich selection of hand-made wooden crafts, to
the western border of the Bwabwatwa Game Park. Here our lodge lies secluded
in the lush vegetation lining the banks of the mighty Kavango River. An
optional activity is a boat cruise on the Kavango River.
Day 3
Thursday
Caprivi - Bwabwatwa National Park
In the morning we enjoy a game drive into the Mahango Game Park, home to
rare animal species such as puku, lechwe, roan and sable, which in turn
attract a large variety of predators such as lion, cheetah, leopard and even
the highly endangered wild dog.
Afterwards we travel east through the Bwabwatwa Game Park, previously known
as the Caprivi Game Park. This elongated yet very narrow strip of land forms
part of the age-old migration route of a variety of game species moving
north from Botswana into Namibia. In the early afternoon we reach our lodge,
nestled in the dense vegetation of the park along the Kwando River. Besides
being the habitat for a huge variety of antelope, elephant, aquatic wildlife
as well as predators, the area is renowned for being Southern Africa’s
birding hotspot. The rest of the day is spent at leisure, optional
activities include boat cruises and game drives.
Day 4
Friday
Caprivi - Bwabwatwa National Park
This morning we visit a traditional caprivi village to learn more about
the tradition and culture of these subsistence farmers who have upheld their
way of life for hundreds of years. Upon returning to our lodge, we enjoy the
rest of the day at leisure. Relax at the pool or participate in one of the
activities offered by the lodge.
Day 5
Saturday
Chobe National Park - Drop off in Kasane, Botswana
After breakfast we travel via Katima Mulilo, Namibia’s most eastern town,
into Botswana, travelling via the Chobe National Park to Kasane. Here you
get dropped off at your accommodation of choice.
SUGGESTIONS:
Extend your stay in the Chobe National Park with a two-night package.
Thereafter you can join our Botswana Highlights tour via the Makgadikgadi
pans, the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert back to Windhoek.
Transfers available from Kasane to Victoria Falls, where you can take part
in adventurous activities that range from sunset cruises to White Water
Rafting to Elephant Back Adventures and much more. (Package for Victoria
Falls available)
