ITINERARY:

Day 1
Monday
Early departure. Visit Kavango woodcarver’s market and Herero graves at Okahandja – the former tribal centre of the Herero. Gain insight into rural life of Namibian peoples at the “Cultural village” in Tsumeb and visit the Mine museum.
D Tsumeb – preferably Makalani Hotel

Day 2
Tuesday
Travel to Treesleeper Camp near Tsintsabis, where San (Bushman) will show you their traditional way of life in a “historic living village”. Proceed to Ombili Foundation where attempts are made to help San to become “farmers”.
BD Eastern Boarder of Etosha – preferably Etosha Aoba Lodge or similar

Day 3
Wednesday
Drive north to buzzling Ovamboland. See Nakambale Museum at Olukondo a former Finnish Mission station. See wheat-crushing, basket-weaving, hair-plaiting and traditional dancing at Ngonga homestead. Traditional lunch. Proceed to Oshakati.
BD + Lunch “4 O’s”- Region – preferably Oshakati Country Lodge

Day 4
Thursday
Travel through western Ovamboland, a region of flat, sandy plains dotted with Makalani palms, savannah grasslands and Mopane woodlands. Different attractions will be visited. Lunch en route (for own account). Continue to Opuwo via Ruacana.
BD Kunene Region/Kaokoland – preferably Opuwo Country Hotel

Day 5
Friday
Visit a typical Himba settlement were a local guide will explain lifestyle and culture of this half-nomadic people. Proceed south to a lodge at the western border of Etosha National Park. Afternoon game drive will take place at the lodge.
BD Western Boarder of Etosha – preferably Hobatere Lodge or similar

Day 6
Saturday
Travel through western Etosha National Park. See the “Sprokieswoud” (Phantom Forest) where Moringa trees grow in big numbers. Game viewing continues.

Day 7
Sunday
Short game drive in the morning before leaving the Etosha National Park. Return to Windhoek. Lunch en route (for own account). Arrival in Windhoek in the afternoon.
