ITINERARY:
Day 1 & Day 2
Saturday & Sunday
Namib Naukluft Park - Sesriem - Sossusvlei
Our journey begins in Windhoek and takes us via bush land savannah to the
edge of the escarpment, which demarcates the beginning of the Namib Desert.
After a steep descent down the Spreetshoogte pass with its awesome vista we
find ourselves in the vicinity of Sossusvlei, an area marked by some of the
highest sand dunes on earth.
An early morning start provides an artists palette of colours as the sea of
sand changes with sunrise. Enjoy the crisp morning air while clambering some
of the many dunes surrounding Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. We go back in time
when exploring the 30-metre deep Sesriem Canyon, which was formed 18 million
years ago by the erosive force of the Tsauchab River.
Accommodation: Sossusvlei Lodge
Day 3 & Day 4
Monday & Tuesday
Swakopmund
Leaving Sossusvlei, we travel via mountain ranges and scenic canyons into
the Central Namib Desert; with some luck we come across Springbuck, Oryx,
Ostriches and elusive Mountain Zebra. We visit the Welwitschia plains and the
Moon landscape in the eroded bed of the Swakop River before reaching
Swakopmund, Namibia’s favourite playground.
Swakopmund is an idyllic town situated along the Atlantic Ocean, and promises
us both great relaxation and adventure. A wide variety of activities are on
offer in and around this quaint seaside town, including amongst others dolphin
cruises, scenic flights, quad biking, dune boarding, desert explorations, sky
diving and much more.
Accommodation: The Stilts
Day 5 & Day 6
Wednesday & Thursday
Etosha National Park
We travel past the Spitzkoppe to the edge of Damaraland. Here we will
visit one of Namibia’s only wine farms and have the opportunity to taste the
different wines that are on offer in a desert country. Hereafter we depart for
the Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s most diverse game reserves.
The Etosha Park boasts an amazing 114 mammal and 340 bird species, making it
one of the most diverse game parks on earth. We travel into the park by open
game drive vehicle, thereby ensuring closer contact with the wildlife and the
environment this great day has to offer. Our lodge has a wellness Spa. Enjoy
the unforgettable view over the extensive plains from your luxury tent.
Accommodation: Eagle Tented Lodge & Spa
Day7
Friday
Okahandja Region
Our journey back takes us via Okahandja; it accommodates two amazing
wooden craft markets that enable us to buy that special gift for our loved
ones at home. Only a short distance further on we arrive at our lodge, which
awards us a perfect spot to relax in the lapa before a vast open colonial lawn
surrounded by a lush garden with a refreshing swimming pool.
Accommodation: Okapuka Lodge
Day 8
Saturday
Return to Windhoek
After a relaxed breakfast we travel via the Otjihavera Mountains back to
Windhoek, where we are dropped off at our accommodation of choice or
transferred to the airport for our outbound flight.
