ITINERARY:
Day 1 & Day 2
Namib Naukluft Park – Sesriem - Sossusvlei
Our journey begins in Windhoek and takes us west to the edge of the
central Namibian escarpment. After a scenic descent we travel along infinite
grass plains and striking mountain ranges to our lodge, situated in the
haunting beauty of the Namib Desert. We explore the enchanting surrounds by
ATV’s, enjoying the silence and surreal space of the desert on a dune
sundowner. The following day we admire the mighty play of shadows and colours
that the rising sun casts onto some of the highest dunes on earth at
Sossusvlei. On our way back to our lodge we visit the Sesriem Canyon, after
which the rest of the day is spent at leisure.
Accommodation: Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge: app. 320km
Day 3 & 4
Swakopmund
We leave the majestic dune landscape behind us, and travel via mountain
ranges, rugged canyons and endless plains to Swakopmund. After our arrival in
this idyllic coastal town we have some leisure time at our disposal, before
travelling to the Welwitschia plains and the Moon Landscape. The following day
promises both relaxation and adventure. A wide variety of activities are on
offer in and around this quaint holiday town. Some of these include dolphin
cruises, scenic flights, quad biking, dune boarding, desert explorations, and
much more.
Accommodation: Hansa Hotel – Suite: app. 380km
Day 5
Skeleton Coast – Twyfelfontein - Damaraland
Departing northwards along the Atlantic Ocean we arrive at Cape Cross Seal
Reserve, home to some 100 000 Cape Fur Seals. Afterwards we travel inland past
the Brandberg (Namibia’s highest peak) into Damaraland, one of the most
geologically diverse and untouched wilderness areas. We may see free-roaming
game such as Hartman’s Mountain Zebra, Giraffe, springbok, black rhino and
desert-adapted elephant. Our luxurious lodge, situated in the midst of huge
granite boulders, will introduce us to the true meaning of peace and
tranquillity.
Accommodation: Mowani Mountain Camp: app. 440km
Day 6 & Day 7
Etosha National Park Region
After breakfast, we visit Southern Africa’s largest open-air museum at
Twyfelfontein. At this National Heritage site more than 2500 different rock
engravings remind us of an era when the Bushmen inhabited this land some 6000
years ago. We continue to our lodge, situated at the gate of the Etosha
National Park, where the rest of the day is spent at leisure. The following
morning we travel into the Park in an open game –viewing vehicle. With its 114
different animal and 340 different bird species, this park belongs to the
world’s most diverse wilderness areas, and promises us an unforgettable
wildlife experience. Back at the lodge, we can be spoilt by various therapies
and treatments at the lodge’s wellness centre.
Accommodation: Little Ongava: app. 380km
Day 8
AFRICAT Foundation - Otjiwarongo environs
We enjoy breakfast, after which we proceed south to the home of the
AfriCat Foundation, which is committed to researching and rehabilitating
Namibia's threatened wildcat population. With the abundance of animal and bird
life and spectacular scenery, Okonjima is a photographer's paradise and will
enable you to witness some of AfriCat’s valuable work. Activities include
Cheetah tracking or you may alternatively take pleasure in watching the
leopard feed in the late afternoon. In the evening sit back and enjoy an
excellent meal around an enchanting fire in a peaceful, lavish and friendly
atmosphere.
Accommodation: Okonjima Bush Camp: app. 360km
