Walking Safaris on the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls

Walking Safari- 3 hours
This is a leisurely game viewing, bird watching walk in the Zambezi National Park near Victoria Falls 
The trip starts with a game drive to a remote area of the Zambezi National Park where the walks are conducted. The walk is approximately 2 hours in length and is conducted around the natural mineral spring lines
Your stop for breakfast or snacks is after an hour’s safari walk 

Aug. - April (Summer) daily at 06h00 and 15h00 . 
May  - July (Winter) daily at 06h30 and 15h00·
  • A continental breakfast, tea and coffee is included
  • After the morning walk clients will meet the vehicle and have a cold mineral or beer before returning to Victoria Falls, arriving at about 10h00 Enjoy your walk in the wild 

Full Day Walk (6.30am - 5.00pm)

  • Clients are collected at approximately 6.30am 
    The trip starts with an hours game drive to a remote area of the National Park where the walks are conducted.
  • The professional walking guide will track game by foot while also pointing out some of the finer details of the African bush. 
  • A continental breakfast, tea and coffee and lunch are included. 
  • The first walk is approximately 2 1/2 hours in length and is conducted around the natural mineral spring lines. 
  • After the morning walk clients will meet the vehicle and drive to the river bank where they will have a picnic lunch and a rest. 
  • After the lunch break and siesta, clients will embark on an afternoon walk after which they will be met by the vehicle for cold mineral drinks and beers before driving back to Victoria Falls to arrive at approximately 5.00pm [ All year safari]


Walking & Canoeing Safaris at Victoria Falls

One Day Walking & Canoeing Adventure (Available from 1st April - 30th November ) 

  • Clients are collected at approximately 6.30am. 
  • Clients take an hours game drive in an open vehicle to a remote area of the Zambezi National Park.
  • The professional walking guide will give a safety talk before commencing into the bush tracking game by foot, while also pointing out some of the finer details of the African bush. 
  • A light Continental Breakfast with tea and coffee is served in the morning. 
  • After the mornings walk clients meet the vehicle and game drive to the river's canoe launch site. 
  • After launching the canoes, a picnic lunch of cold meats, rolls, quiches, salads and fruit is served on the mainland or an island and varies in length depending on client preference.
  • The afternoon is spent canoeing approximately (8kms) downstream, running small grade one and two rapids, exploring channels and bird and game viewing. 
  • Clients are transferred back to Victoria Falls at 4.00pm

General Information:

  • No previous experience is required. 
  • All trips are guided and led by a professional, qualified guide.
  • On all overnight trips limited beers and minerals (approximately 2 per person per night), wine (1 bottle per 2 pax), and after dinner port are provided. If clients want other alcoholic or imported drinks they must supply their own.
  • During winter months (May, June, July and August), the evenings, nights and early mornings will be very cold. Clients must bring their own warm clothing. Space is limited, we suggest one carry bag per person.
  • Clients are advised to bring the following with them on canoe trips : shorts, sandals , sun block, mosquito repellent, torch, hats, sunglasses, towels, cameras (spare film or batteries if digital!) and binoculars. · All guides carry radios and first aid kits.
  • All canoe products are supplied with full radio back up and are in contact with M.A.R.S.
    (Medical Air Rescue Services)
  • Canoe trips are run in self-paddle two man inflatable canoes. 
  • Valuables - all clients are advised to leave valuables at their hotels.


Accommodation for overnight safaris:

Kalai River Camp is situated approximately 25kms upstream from Victoria Falls in the
Zambezi National Park and is a mobile rustic bush camp. It is important to note that it is not a "luxury permanent lodge"! 

The camp is fully backed up by staff who set up camp in preparation for clients arrival. As clients drive or canoe into camp the table is beautifully laid for dinner, the beds are made and a hot cup of tea or a cold beer awaits them! 

The camp comprises of large walk in tents, equipped with camp beds, mattresses, sheets, pillows and duvets, camping water basin (which are filled with hot water each morning), a paraffin lantern, a bedside table and hand towels. There is also a portable toilet and hot shower in camp
